Dr Saud Ibrahim

Graduating from the University of Baghdad in 1989, Saud went on to complete his Masters (Graduating with Distinction) in Prosthodontics in 1996. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Saud followed that by immigrating to New Zealand in 1997. Passing his New Zealand Registration exams was closely followed by purchasing his first clinic in Hamilton in 2000. After years of operation and expanding the first clinic he decided it was time to open his second clinic in Hamilton in 2007. Saud ended up relocating to Auckland in 2010. After years of commute he eventually began to work towards opening his third clinic in 2018 in Auckland. Happily married to his lovely wife, Saud has four children. In his spare time, he likes to keep fit at the gym, he loves running & coaching soccer. A keen spectator too, Saud was the “Ground Dentist” for the All Blacks at Waikato Stadium in 2010. Travelling and cooking are also amongst his favourite things to do. Ongoing education has continued to be a priority for Saud, enabling him to increase his skill and experience in the many different fields of dentistry. He gained further qualification in 2005, a Post Graduate Diploma in Oral Implants, From the University of Sydney. Cosmetic and Implant dentistry are areas of interest and expertise for Saud. A very experienced practitioner Saud has a gift for treating children. Add to this, his wonderful sense of humour, it’s no wonder he enjoys meeting new people and putting his patients at ease. Saud is a member of the New Zealand Dental Association, the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, International Team of Implantology & The Australian Osseo-integration Society
Dr Suzanne Tonkin
General Dentist - BDS
Suzanne attended Dunedin’s Otago University and graduated in 2003. She has been working exclusively in Hamilton City ever since. Suzanne enjoys all aspects of general dentistry from cosmetic work through to the more involved procedures like the oral rehabilitation (crown, bridge, partial dentures and implant restorations). She also enjoys endodontics (root canal treatment), general filling work and preventive measures. She has an interest in helping people who are fearful and/or phobic about dental treatment to enjoy the benefits of regular dental care. She also enjoys treating children of all ages. Suzanne was born and bred in the Waikato and is married with two daughters and currently two cats.

Dr Basil Al-Amleh
Consultant Prosthodontist - BDS, DClinDent (Otago), MRACDS(Pros)
Basil is a highly accomplished dental specialist with a strong academic background and extensive clinical experience. He graduated with his Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2001 and Clinical Doctorate in Prosthodontics in 2011 from the University of Otago. He was a Senior Lecturer in Dental Biomaterials Science at Otago dental school in Dunedin, lecturing and tutoring both undergraduates and postgraduate students. His thesis and research interests were focused on dental ceramics failure. During that time, he authored and co-authored numerous research publications and chapters in implantology textbooks. With over 22 years of clinical experience, Basil has developed a reputation for excellence in Prosthodontics, complex dental rehabilitations, implant treatments, and cosmetic dentistry. He also addresses more complex issues, such as temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD), jaw alignment problems, and obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). He is committed to staying up to date with the latest advances in dental technology and techniques to provide his patients with the highest quality care possible. Basil enjoys teaching and is very passionate about training and education. He lectures around NZ to general dentists about advanced dental treatments. He is also a guest speaker at AUT, giving lectures to senior Oral Health Therapy students on screening for OSA and TMD patients.
Stephanie McDonald
Dental Hygienist - RDH
Steph graduated from the Otago University School of Dentistry in 2004. Steph is passionate about preventative dentistry and assisting patients with achieving their oral health goals. She is particularly empathic and caring with patients who may struggle with dental anxiety and phobia. Steph loves to help patients feel comfortable during the dental hygiene appointments, while she treats and helps patients prevent gum disease. Steph has two sons and enjoys hiking, beaches, and road trips in her spare time. Steph has worked with Dr Suzanne Tonkin and Dr Saud Ibrahim for more than 10 years and super excited and happy to be back working alongside them at C & R Dental Care.

Dr Suzanne Tonkin and Dr Saud Ibrahim have opened C&R Dental Care after spending 20 plus years working at other Hamilton Clinics. Dr Suzanne Tonkin comes from 16 years at Rototuna Dental, since it’s inception, and Dr Saud Ibrahim became the owner of Chartwell (and subsequently the extension to the Rototuna Branch) 25 years ago. Between Saud, Suzanne and their background the idea for C & R Dental was born.
Both Saud and Suzanne are passionate about their work and have a fabulous rapport with patients. Dr Suzanne Tonkin and Dr Saud Ibrahim have moved into the space that was formerly Villa Dental, and we are in the process of rebranding it. The original Villa phone number and website (along with our new website) will continue to be utilised to allow convenient access to our services.
